Evaluation - Question 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Conventions of an opening sequence include things such as:

Opening titles -
Opening titles are the intro credits, containing names of the actors, producers, editors etc. It also relates to the names of the production company, and the film itself. This is a good way to show the main actors in the clip, and to show that they are well known and may bring satisfaction to the audience, knowing that a really good actor is featuring in the clip.
Narrative enigmas -
These are puzzles, or questions at the beginning of the sequence. These are used to make the audience become intrigued and want to carry on watching. Narrative Enigmas have to be thoroughly planned beforehand, and pulled off to perfection, in order to create the effect wanted, such as; intriguing the viewers by giving them a puzzle that they have to stay to find out.

My Thriller task including the main convention - Opening titles. We tried to include as many as possible, with things such as actors, editors, producers etc. We only included one title itself - the name of the film. Although we could have added another one, for the production company, but we ran out of time. I think  we would have liked to have made up a production company and made a title especially for it, this would  have added a lot of authenticity to the clip, and made it seem like a more well-done, realistic opening scenes.

In the first screenshot, you can see the opening title of the film. It is plain and has the video in the background but it is how we decided to keep it. In the second screenshot you seen some of the opening credits - more specifically who it was Directed by, being Harry Edwards and Harry Smith. This can also link to the names that were used in the opening scene, as what we should have done to make the clip seem more real and like an actual replica of a real life opening sequence, would be to use any names but our own.

We recorded some narrative, however it didn't contain any enigmas. Even though we had the narrative ready and recorded, we sadly couldn't upload it to the computer as the audio clip messed up, upon uploading it. We got a fellow student, Evan Jones to do the narrative, and it including a speech about the plot of the movie, what would mainly take place. We went into a small room and recorded the voice clip and had it all ready to upload, but sadly the clips got ruined and weren't able for upload.

There wasn't many other conventions that we thought about adding to our project, as my group were very far behind, and we didn't have much time to plan the contents of our clip
